    Default Scotland v Australia

Massive defensive effort from Scotland, who appear to have (unsuprisingly) so much more belief under Robinson than the Haddock. Scotland were perhaps lucky in the end, but they erned that luck with 80 miuets of unflinching effort and dicipline.

Heres hoping they can keep improving from here, and mount a strong challenege for the 6 nations.

Man, Australia is having a terrible season.

Also, if I calculated right, Australia drops 1.7 ranking points. France gained something from their win... which may just put France into 3rd.

Australia just seem to have lost the ability to finish which was always a strength of theirs...

I didn't see what happened to Genia (if anything did) but why was he substituted? Burgess is unbelievably crap and I just can't believe how he manages to keep his place in the squad...

Full credit to Scotland for playing well on defence and also playing so diciplined. They were incredibly lucky to get the win in the end as Giteau has slotted that fairly regulation kick 1000's of times before...

Scotland have a good looking pack but need a little more class out back before they will be any threat...

Deception I don't think Aus drop that much as Scotland were at home meaning their ranking is already 3 points better than the log position at kick off...I think it's closer to 1 by my attempts to work it out...it's the rating gap that always does my head in when doing these calculations...?

85.63 and 76.06, so boosted to 79.06, which is a 6ish gap I think. I'm not the greatest at reading those graphs though lol

Is it me or modern defense has become a synonym for OFFSIDE. Scotland had a great tackle work, but it was a clear offside from everyone near to the ruck in that last phase

Not sure, but they do seem to play right up with a lot of rushing. I'd bet there's a lot more uncalled offsides. The unfortunate thing is rush defense seems to be working.

Scotland were offside a lot in the dying minutes but the tension was huge and the ref was watching a lot in the ruck...

This differs from ref to ref...some refs are harsh on it and will shout at players to retreat...it's all about the first 20mins...

If a ref buttons down on offsides, pushing straight, scrummie feeds, foul play of any kind in the forst 20mins the game will be largely good from that point on...the players will settle down and play accordingly...

Unless you're Ritchie McCaw that is...
