Backrower Kieran Read scored one try and set up another as the Canterbury Crusaders beat the ACT Brumbies 40-22 on Saturday to clinch a Super 14 semifinal spot.
The Crusaders needed a win and a four-try bonus point to clinch their 10th straight appearance in Super rugby playoffs and had three tries and a 22-10 lead by halftime.
All Blacks winger Zac Guilford created the Crusaders' first two tries, including one to Read, and Read provided the last pass in the third, scored by his All Blacks teammate, prop Owen Franks.
All Blacks captain Richie McCaw sealed the bonus point with a 51st-minute try and Guilford added a fifth in the dying moments.
