Burger's for his gouge was incredibly lenient though... Swings and roundabouts

I think that's why the Boks keep getting these bans, there's a residual anger in official circles about that blatant mistake

I think it's all just a shambles at the moment. This whole year has been a mess when it comes to citings and suspensions. Nobody seems to know what's going on.

But, Sergio Parisse got 8 weeks for his eye gouge too, so I dont see what the big deal is. I dont hear about kiwi fans calling for him to have been banned for longer.. probably because they won that match/series.

And yes, I do think that the 'contact with the eye area' was the same as the Burger incident.

Was Alan Quinlans suspension also lenient then? Or not as important because it wasn't by a South African?

There's too much emotion involved imo, and it's also just inconsistent, especially when you look at Neil Best, Dylan Hartley in the past.

Lions want to take this to arbitration now...so by the time they have finished fighting the case his contract will pretty much be up?

WP reportedly offered him R3.8 million a year...?

Court currently deciding whether he will be able to play for WP in the final stages of this years CC or if he has to remain a Lion...

His ban will be up by the time for final rounds are played now that it has been reduced...

I'm shocked that this is still going on, and at this stage he actually has no idea who he plays for.

I haven't followed it closely enough in all honesty, but do you know what happened to the Clermont deal? Why he suddenly pulled out or what the circumstances were?

It seems he wants to join WP, and the Lions wont let him go. But I agree with you both, what a farce

Default And the winner is...

Well it's finally over... Jaques Fourie has been allowed to leave the Lions and is surely set to join WP after his contract was found to NOT be legally binding...

Stormers have a decent looking side for next years S14 if he goes...great blend of new and old and all the riff-raff is finally gone...no more Britz and Watson to mess it up for them.
