Fourie had a great season, but I don't think it was better than BOD's; a Grand Slam, a Heineken Cup, and a big Lions tour. Then again, Fourie had a Tri Nations and Lions series titles, but mostly as a second choice. Nope, much as I'm an admirerer of Fourie, it's the Irishman for me.
I don't think Steyn played consistently enough in one position to merit a place in the end of year team. It was crazy that Frans was included ahead of Morne on the IRB Player of the Year list anyway
Not totally, but I'd at least argue that Carter still outplayed Giteau (especially overall), Castrogiovanni was (apparently) scrumming illegally so I don't know how saying he destroyed the ABs can be accepted. As well as Read playing well and Thorn helping out and doing their best in a less-than-top ABs team (until the end of the year).
To only have Sivivatu barely make the team when the only bad mark on the year was the Saffa losses is a bit much.
I agree. To have Paul O'Connell is a bit of a joke too. If he's not going to be the leader and captain, get rid of him. I'm not sure about Jamie Roberts either, although him & BOD did make a decent pairing for the B&I Lions, but iirc, he didn't even play in the Test they won.
