Planet Rugby said that Matthew Tait produced 'England's most memorable moment of the 2007 World Cup'. Sky Sports news also mentioned it.
Admittedly I have no idea which moment they're talking about! But after Tait being recalled to the England team this week I thought now would be a good time to feature it.
I hope someone knows more about the moment than I do, so that it can be found and featured on the site.
You mean the try that got called off by a criminal video ref who killed the lions by allowing fourie's try in the second test too :P
yeah mate, Matthew Tait picked up a dreadful pass from Gomarshall and split Jean de Villiers and another bloke, broke the line sped round a guy, stepped past Percy Montgomery and whoever the last guy was, but Habana and a flanker cut him off about 2 meters short of the line. the ball was passed wide to cueto who dived over for the score, but it got very controversially ruled as foot in touch.
my word though, my heart was pounding like no tomorrow there, i was going insane! definitely one of the more/most memorable moments for England
I still can't decide if it's a try, and I'm English, so I don't blame the TMO for denying it. I'd give Cueto the benefit of the doubt I think, but I might be biased :P
Ah I remember that. Foot on the line then raised up :P I don't agree with the commentators that his foot made it into the air in time.
Good run by Tait though, he almost scored a long range solo try against NZ in 2008 I think. Wasn't sure why he didn't (seem to) play as much since then, at least in June/Autumn tours.

Yeah unfortunately the foot brushed the line. Nightmare scenario for Dickinson though. He got it right on both accounts though I'm afraid (Fourie try too).
Matfield did brilliantly to get back and make that tackle on Tait. Superb run. It is a pity he hasn't featured more, but he's in the side now so maybe this will be his Six Nations

Funny to listen to Stuart Barnes and Co. convincing themselves that a try had been scored. They had made their minds up before the replay had even been shown.
